Terms & Conditions Gravel Ride

  1. Riders will receive last minute instructions when signing in for the event (the day before or the morning itself). These instructions need to be followed.
  2. It's the riders responsibility to be sufficiently prepared end equipped to do the ride (check our bike & gear recommendations). A standard road bike is NOT suitable for this event.
  3. You should ensure that both yourself and your bike are in a good state to complete a 170 km gravel ride.  
  4. If, during the event, you decide to change your route and distance, then all consequences of this action are yours.
  5. The organizers and staff can take any action necessary to assure the safety of the participant(s).
  6. The Dirty Boar Gravel ride is NOT a race. This means that there will be other traffic (also in the forest) and that all the traffic rules apply. We will have signallers helping you to cross major roads, but they are not allowed to stop traffic. So be carefull and slow down/stop even if there are signallers.
  7. We will ride in a remote and protected area. Please respect nature and don't leave any rubbish (packaging, punctured inner tubes....) behind. Participants found littering will be disqualified/removed from the event. There will be rubbish bins at the feeding stations to empty your pockets.
  8. Participants are required to wear a cycling helmet that is in a good condition. Any rider not conforming with this term can be removed from the event (before or during).
  9. The organizers reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event due to the conditions on the course and/or health and safety risks.
  10. The event registration form must be completed by a person aged 18 years or over. This event is not open to riders under 18 unless he/she has written approval of a parent/guardian and is accompanied by a parent/guardian the whole time/ride. The adult will take responsibility for the under 18 year old.
  11. All riders are covered by a basic third party insurance for the duration of the event. The cost of this is included in your entry fee. An insurance claim needs to be send within 8 days of the event. In addition, VZW De Vettige Swa's are covered by public liability insurance.
  12. Organizers cannot take responsibility for loss or damage of personal possessions during the event.
  13. During the event there will be warning signs at appropriate points on the trails or roads used for this event. Absence of these signs doesn't mean there are no dangers approaching. So keep your eyes open at all times. It is the individual rider’s responsibility to take care and make his/her own decision regarding whether to ride a section, to walk it or to skip it.
  14. Each participant will be fully responsible for any fees or costs incurred or arising from an accident either involving or caused by the rider (unless covered by our insurance). This includes, but is not exclusive to, fees from Police, Air Ambulance, Fire and Rescue and the Ambulance service.
  15. By entering the event each participant grants to VZW De Vettige Swa's an exclusive, absolute and irrevocable worldwide assignment in perpetuity in the photographs/film/video/electronic representations and/or sound recordings of the participant obtained at the event and grants to VZW De Vettige Swa's the right to use and publish such content in any and all media. The participant hereby releases VZW De Vettige Swa's from any and all liability from such use and promotion. The participant hereby authorizes the reproduction, sale, copyright, exhibit, broadcast, electronic storage and/or distribution of said photographs/film/video tapes/electronic representations and/or sound recordings without limitation at the discretion of VZW De Vettige Swa's. The participant specifically waives any right to any compensation they may have for appearing in any of the photographs/film/video/electronic representations and/or sound recordings of the participant at The Dirty Boar Gravel ride.
  16. If a participant fails to complete the course for any reason, they need to return to the start/finish or call the event center before the close of the event. Not doing so will mean that a search may be organised and the subsequent cost will be billed to the participant.
  17. Riders may apply for a 100% refund up to 14 days after registering. All refunds will incur a 5euro administrative fee.  After the 14 days, entries can be transferred to other people but the participant needs to handle the transfer himself (looking for another rider, get paid by the new rider, send all previous mails/documents to the new rider...). Once the transfer is complete, the original participant sends a mail to the organisation in which he confirms the transfer (+ all the contact details for the new rider)
  18. If a timing chip is used by the organizers: Loss or damage of the timing chip will be charged to the participant. 10 euro per timing chip.
